PMT-The Pablo Motta Trio

The Trio came to be out necessity to display my music. I just had too many songs that I wanted to play and the only way to do it was to have my own group. Our sound I think can be described as "Contemporary Jazz." My influences include the "ECM" sound and other modern jazz groups. Fortunately I'm surrounded by great friends/amazing musicians that support me in my quest to showcase my music and enjoy playing it. Eli Brueggeman (Piano) and Lorca Hart (Drums) are my main guys. Other musicians include Bill Cunliffe, Dick Weller, Michael Bluestein, Bill Fulton, Greg Gordon Smith and Todd Wolf. We're planning to record our first CD in the next couple of months. We'll let you know when it's out!

LATQ-The Los Angeles Tango Quartet

This is a new project for which I'm really excited. It's traditional Argentine Tango with a modern twist. Our "core" members are Marcelo Caceres (Guitar), Pablo Medina (Piano) and myself (Bass). All three members are from Argentina now living in LA. We rotate the fourth member for we have many players that regularly play with us. Those include: Alwyn Wright (Violin), Sam Robles (Sax), Miguel Atwood-Ferguson (Viola), Ginger Murphy (Cello), Benedikt Bryden (Violin).

Trio Tangábile

Trio Tangabile is made up of Coco Trivisonno (Bandoneón), Marcelo Caceres (Guitar), and myself (Bass). This is as traditional as Tango gets and we play several diffrent substyles of tango. Some of the arrangements are by Coco Trivisonno but most of them are based on improvised ideas that later are adopted as arrangements. Marcelo Caceres comes up with a lot of harmonic variations while I keep the rhythm going. There is an incredible synergy with this group. We really have a great time when we play. With this trio we've played in countless events around Los Angeles. Our most recent "big gig" was recording Piazzolla's Operetta "Maria de Buenos Aires" with the Cascade Festival in Oregon.

Other groups I perform with...

Forever Tango, Justo Almario Quartet, The Bobby Rodriguez Latin Jazz Big Band, Patrice Quinn, Ronald Muldrow, Ark Sano Trio, Santa Barbara Symphony, Mládí Chamber Orchestra, Birdie Mendoza
